Research records are not a retrospective summary of success. They are the contemporaneous chain connecting the question, method, observation, change and conclusion.

How it works in a commercial setting
Commercial research must be rigorous without becoming detached from operations. We design around safety, production, data access, cost and time while keeping the question and evidence standard intact. Practical constraints are recorded as part of the operating envelope, not edited out of the result.

A worked example
A code commit can identify the experiment run, dataset and hypothesis it tests; a design change can link directly to the observation that caused it.
