Innovation Support Pathways
Once a project has a defined research question, a structured pathway and an evidence trail, a further question often follows: are there government innovation support pathways that may be relevant? This hub explains the main Australian pathways in plain language — what each one is, what kinds of projects it may suit, and what preparation may be required. It is education, not an eligibility assessment.
Where support pathways sit in the journey
Support pathways come after project structure, not before it. In the way we work with clients, a project is first assessed and framed, then designed as a structured R&D pathway, then supported by a documentation and evidence system. Only at that point does it make sense to ask which — if any — government support pathways may be relevant. Starting from “which grant can we get?” tends to produce weak projects; starting from a well-structured project tends to produce genuine options.
Whether any particular pathway applies to your project depends on the project structure, the partners involved, the evidence available and, in some cases, formal self-assessment against program criteria. Nothing on these pages should be read as a statement that your project is eligible for anything.
