Research Services · Extended
Spend two weeks finding out if this problem deserves a research project.
Before committing budget to a full research engagement, run the diagnostic. In one to two weeks, we examine your problem the way a research organisation would — and tell you plainly whether it warrants structured research, what that would involve, and what it is likely to take. If the honest answer is “this is engineering, not research”, we say so.
What the diagnostic examines
- Genuine technical uncertainty. Does the problem contain a question that existing knowledge, on reasonable investigation, cannot answer — or is it a known method waiting to be applied?
- Framability as research. Can the uncertainty be expressed as a testable hypothesis with observable success criteria, following our research value chain?
- Effort and pathway. What scale of experiment, prototype or investigation would resolve the uncertainty — and which of our research services would carry it.
What you receive
A written diagnostic report covering the uncertainty assessment, a draft research framing and an estimate of effort — plus a recommended route: proceed to a scoped project, run a targeted proof of concept first, or stop, because the problem does not need research. Where activities look capable of meeting the self-assessed R&D Tax Incentive criteria, the report notes it — as a downstream consideration, never the starting point.
Commercial terms: fixed fee, quoted up front before any work begins. If you proceed to a subsequent research project with us, the diagnostic fee is credited toward that engagement.
Who it suits
Founders and technical leads — particularly startups and SMEs — who suspect they are doing R&D but want an evidence-based answer before committing, and companies weighing a larger engagement who want a low-commitment first step with a registered Research Service Provider (RSP000047).
Two weeks to a clear answer
